| Salix aurita |
Description: The name 'eared willow' refers to the prominent and persistent stipules produced in pairs at the bases of the leaf stalks. The rather small oval leaf has a characteristically wrinkled appearance. Both characters carry across into the hybrids which this species readily forms with other willows.
Eared willow is a small shrub, often stunted in exposed situations. It is common on acid heaths and moorland.
