Salix viminalis

Description: One of the easiest willow species to identify because it has distinctively narrow, long leaves with the margins untoothed and turned under and the underside covered in a silvery-silky covering of hair. Probably not native to Ireland, and frequently planted in damp places; it is an important basket willow. It forms hybrids with several other species.
