Description: White willow has been widely planted as an ornamental tree besides rivers, canals, along field boundaries and alongside roads such as the M1 motorway in some places. Fully-grown, this willow is a handsome tree with its greyish/silvery-white foliage, and can reach 70 feet (c. 20 m) or more in height. The leaves are long and narrow, covered with dense hairs which give them their greyish-white appearance, particularly attractive in windy weather.
