Humulus lupulus

Description: This is a twining herbaceous perennial species familiar to most people as the traditional flavouring agent in beers. It is not a native species in Northern Ireland, nor is it cultivated except as a rather unusual garden ornamental, but occasional 'wild' plants are encountered in hedgerows where they may be long established. The origins of these plants are unknown.
