Description: The distribution of this native perennial species is very restricted being confined to heaths in the Larne District of Co Antrim; it has also declined, probably to extinction, over the past fifty years (last seen in Northern Ireland in 1983).

It produces one-sided spikes of purple-pink flowers, has pinnate leaves which differ from most other vetches by having no tendrils, and grows to about 18 inches (45 cm) high in scrubby heath.

All names: Vicia orobus DC.
