Description: Tufted vetch is one of the commonest flowers of hedgerows, heaths, scrub and coarse grass. It is a scrambling perennial plant with the usual vetch-like pinnate leaf, tendrils, and one-side spikes of bright purple-blue pea-flowers. The fruit is a small peapod containing between four and eight seeds.
This and V. sepium are the two commonest vetches of roadside hedges.
