| Trifolium campestre |
Description: This is a short clover-leaved plant with rounded heads of tiny bright yellow pea flowers. It is a rather local native annual of grassy places across Northern Ireland.
When the flowers of this species have gone over they turn brown and the standard of the flower bends over the pod giving the roundish head a somewhat fanciful resemblance to hops (Humulus lupulus).
All names: Trifolium campestre Schreber; Chrysaspis campestre (Schreber) Desv.; Trifolium procumbens auct.
Distribution Map from NBN: Trifolium campestre at National Biodiversity Network mapping facility, data for UK.
