Description: This sedge resembles the Flea Sedge, but whereas that species has red fruits, this has pale straw-coloured fruits. Flea sedge is fairly common in marshes, but Few-flowered Sedge is a rare and local plant of upland wet bogs. It is confined in Ireland to two areas: the Garron Plateau and an upland bog east of the Kilbroney Valley in the Mournes.
