| Allium ampeloprasum var. babingtonii |
Description: This is a similar to the cultivated culinary leek (Allium porrum) but the flowers are lilac or purple in colour (not white). The stems are up to 4 feet tall with long narrow leaves. The flowers are produced in rounded clusters called umbels which also have small bulbils mixed in among them. It is a rare species, probably an ancient introduction, in a few places by the sea.
